Personal statement

Alison joined RKES in May 2019 and is responsible for strategic research & KE management support in the Faculty of Science. She previously held similar positions within Glasgow School of Art and the Universities of Stirling and St Andrews. Her background is in medicinal chemistry, gaining her PhD with Prof Richard Hartley (University of Glasgow) under the Wellcome Trust 4 year PhD programme. She pursued post doctoral studies with Prof Stuart Schreiber (Harvard University) and the Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) at the University of Dundee. Alison has previously been a research manager at University of St Andrews, Stirling and Glasgow School of Art, bring over 10 years of expertise to the team. She is also particularly interested in equality and diversity within the research funding landscape. One of the most important aspects of a strategic research & KE managers role is on research income: sourcing it, applying for it, building collaborations and partnerships.
